PlayStation Experience 2016 just happened and gamers from all over the world are in for a treat! The annual event by Sony Interactive Entertainment was held last Dec. 3-4 PT in Anaheim, California, and was packed with demos of unreleased games for people to play, as well as a series of reveals of unannounced titles.
A lot has happened in the two-day event, but here are my top ten!
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
Everyone’s favorite fighting game is back! Slated for release late 2017, we were shown a reveal teaser on the first day and a gameplay trailer on the second. The latter features a new system called Infinity Stones. The sad part here is due to copyright issues, we may not be seeing the likes of X-Men or Wolverine here- we can expect our new favorites from the Marvel Cinematic Universe though! If you’re already wanting for some action, the old 2011 Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Ultimate just hit the PSN Store!
The Last of Us: Part II
Newsflash: the sequel to Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us is really happening, and for those who came to play and love the critically-acclaimed franchise that got tons of 10/10, the trailer is dead-on goosebumps-inducing! We see an older looking Ellie and Joel, and it looks out they’re out for a bloody vengeance.
Persona 5
Yet another trailer for the next best thing after Final Fantasy XV: Persona 5! The game was already released last September 15 in the Japanese market, but will debut worldwide on April 4, 2017.
NieR: Automata
A new trailer for Square Enix’s next big action role-playing game: NieR: Automata. The game is slated for release in Japan on February 2017, and worldwide on March 2017.
Resident Evil 7
The final demo trailer for the renowned survival horror game. One thing to look forward here is that the developers felt the previous games got out of hand with the guns and bio-terrorism so they decided to strip down the next game to its core: horror. The game is set 4 years after RE6 and will be featuring a whole new set of characters. The game will be released worldwide on January 2017.
Gran Turismo Sport
Gaming car enthusiasts will be thrilled as Gran Turismo Sport is set for release in 2017 after having been initially announced two years ago. A new trailer was shown on PSX 2016 showcasing the game’s stunning graphical features. The game is said to be “the first in a new generation or new era of Gran Turismo games” as told by creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Wings
The role-playing masterpiece housing the talents of Level-5 AND Studio Ghibli is making a comeback with a sequel entitled “Revenant Kingdom” featuring a whole new adventure! Here’s the gameplay reveal:
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
The next Uncharted will not be of Nathan Drake, but of Chloe Frazer (who made her debut in Uncharted 2) and Nadine Ross from Uncharted 4. It will be released as a stand-alone game next year via retail and digital download. BUT if you’ve bought the Uncharted 4 Digital Deluxe Edition or the Explorer’s Pack, you’ll get The Lost Legacy for free as a download at launch!
Yakuza Kiwami
The legendary Yakuza series makes its way to the western PS4 market starting with Yakuza Kiwami, HD remakes of the first two PS2 games. After the introduction, Yakuza 6 is set to be released around 2018.
Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy
The classic platform PlayStation 1 game is making a comeback in the PS4 with the N. Sane Trilogy! Three remastered games in one, expect them to be rebuilt from scratch using the latest game development tech, but still uses the original concept, geometry and designs.
That about wraps the PSX 2016. Like and subscribe to The Foodie Geek for more game news!
