Mi Bluetooth Headset Youth Edition Review

Category: Gadget Accessories
Price: P629
Bought at: Lazada PH

Are you the type to sacrifice a bit of quality for some wireless and ergonomic convenience? Then you’re also probably using a bluetooth headset for your daily calls and gaming voice comms. I just recently switched myself to try that kind of setup, and here’s the best product I could find under a thousand pesos!

Mi or Xiaomi, is well-known for its quality products that sell for very affordable prices so it comes to no surprise that even their bluetooth headsets would also pack a punch. For reference, their old Redmi Note 4X from last year still reigns as king when it comes to the best performance to price ratio.

I purchased the Mi Bluetooth Headset Youth Edition on Lazada for P629 and got it three days after ordering. The seller was Mi Home PH and they had 88% positive rating in the site when I ordered.

Verdict

Long story short, I like it and I would definitely recommend it. It’s compact and has a solid build- the matte finish on the plastic also gives it a premium feel. It’s easy to use with it’s three buttons, and surprisingly, as mentioned earlier, you can also do a lot of things with just those three buttons.

I am able to use it on both my daily phone calls and online calls like on Facebook. It’s also what I use for voice comms when gaming with my friends. The quality is very good. But by saying quality, I should clarify first that with it being a bluetooth headset with a microphone, which means the hardware is designed to optimize quality for both the earpiece and microphone, you probably should not expect it to be near the sound quality of bluetooth headsets designed for listening only. It’s apples and oranges.

As a bluetooth headset with a microphone, I can vouch for its great quality. Some brands that even sell for twice its price are crappier compared to this. I can tell because I invested quite some time in stores testing different bluetooth headsets, and this one just takes the cake.

But If you want the best audio quality for listening and talking, might as well get a wired headset, or a wireless one that’s above the 4,000 peso mark. I got this one mainly for wanting to be handsfree, and this is the best product I came across with that’s under a thousand pesos.

There are two cons that need to be mentioned: one, the voice speaking in Chinese that nags you on certain notifications (e.g. low battery) is a bit annoying and two, it’s not a complete fit in my ear. Granted that it keeps on despite banging my head a couple of times, it’s not completely locked to your ear that you’d be confident to wear it while biking or hiking outside. Can’t blame them though as this product wasn’t designed for those extreme conditions.

How about you? What’s the bluetooth headset you’re using? Is it any good? Feel free to share in the comments section down below!
